Ontology-based distance education information retrieval method

This paper outlines current developments in distance education in China and argues for the importance of introducing a knowledge retrieval system. The functions of ontology in knowledge structures and knowledge retrieval are then considered, with illustrative examples from the teaching of data structures.

Finally, the current applications and limitations of ontological knowledge retrieval systems in distance education are examined and suggestions are made for their future development.
